Seminar on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse

From 27 Feb 2023 to 3 Mar 2023, the European Union Training Mission in the Central African Republic (EUTM RCA), organized a Seminar on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse.

 

In this seminar, which was part of the Healthcare Course, 37 military personnel from Central African Armed Forces (FACA) and two from National Gendarmerie participated. Among the trainees there were 18 women and 21 men, reinforcing EUTM’s RCA unconditional support for gender equality in all areas.

The seminar took place at the Fidèle Obrou Camp and was organized by the Education Pillar of European Union Training Mission in the Central African Republic (EUTM RCA), in partnership with other entities, namely the European Union Advisory Mission in the Central African Republic (EUAM RCA), the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the Child protection unit of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Bangui Field Office of the Human Rights Division of MINUSCA.

During the closing ceremony of the seminar, the EUTM RCA Mission Force Commander, Brigadier General Lino Gonçalves took the opportunity to address all the participants and highlight the importance of the theme, the related future challenges and the fact that the knowledge of the subjects obtained would enable the trainees to integrate it in the accomplishment of their missions.

The FACA authorities and a representative of the trainees thanked the organizers of the event. All the participants received certificates of attendance.
