Forests are incredibly important for community livelihood in the Malaysian state of Sabah, where the majority of inhabitants live in rural areas and are predominantly dependent on farming and the forests. The EU-funded programme Tackling Climate Change through Sustainable Forest Management and Community Development aims to enhance community livelihoods, particularly women, through maintaining forests.
