EVSDA 2025 – ‘PRODUCT DESIGN’ SHORTLIST – TẠM (NGUYỄN THỊ HUYỀN TRANG)
*
The project stems from my own living experience and that of my friends — young people who often rent short-term accommodations. In such contexts, furniture is rarely a long-term investment; it is usually chosen hastily, used temporarily, and then discarded.
The project’s product is a floor cushion made from water hyacinth — a familiar natural material known for its softness and flexibility. The rounded design contours to the body for comfortable floor seating while being structured for easy disassembly and compact disposal when no longer in use. The water hyacinth can even be reused as packing material when moving houses — a practical solution for young people who frequently relocate.
"Tạm" is a small, personal project, but it suggests that even within a “temporary” lifestyle, we can still choose to live more sustainably and responsibly.
