EVSDA 2025 – ‘ARCHITECTURE’ SHORTLIST – THE “NGÕ” HOUSE (D.O.G STUDIO)
*
The “NGÕ” House is a two-story urban home designed for a multi-generational family of six, including grandparents, parents, and two children. The house includes a living room, kitchen, bathroom, three bedrooms, storage room, worship room, and garden.
While it follows the traditional local townhouse form, the design introduces a green courtyard—a breathing space that naturally connects people with nature despite the limited plot size. Unlike the dense, bustling tube houses along the main streets, this home retreats inward to create a private garden, using stillness and greenery to counterbalance the city’s noise and dense urban environment.
“NGÕ” embodies an architectural dialogue between modern environmental consciousness and cultural continuity, preserving both tangible and intangible Vietnamese heritage.
