EU-VIETNAM SUSTAINABLE DESIGN AWARDS 2025 - EVALUATION CRITERIA - INNOVATION

This category recognizes and celebrates outstanding achievements in design that push boundaries, solve challenges creatively, and demonstrate a significant impact.
Projects do not necessarily need to satisfy all of the criteria as listed below.
Evaluation criteria include:
1. INNOVATION & ORIGINALITY
- Novelty of Concept: To what extent does the case present a truly new idea, approach, or solution that challenges existing norms? Does it demonstrate original thinking rather than incremental improvements?
- Creative Problem Solving: How effectively does the design address a specific problem or need in an inventive and imaginative way? Is the solution unexpected, or insightful?
- Breakthrough Potential: Does the case have the potential to spark new trends, open new markets, or significantly influence future directions within its industry or market or beyond?
2. IMPACT & VALUE
- User Experience (UX) & Usability: How well does the case enhance the user's interaction and experience? Is it intuitive, efficient, enjoyable, and accessible?
- Social, Environmental Impact: Does the design contribute positively to society, the environment? Examples include sustainability, accessibility, affordability, health benefits, or job creation.
- Market Relevance & Viability: Is the innovation practical and feasible for implementation or production? Does it meet a real market need or create a new one?
- Scalability & Future Potential: Does the project/ innovation have the capacity to be scaled up or adapted for wider use? Does it lay groundwork for future developments or applications?
3. DESIGN EXCELLENCE & EXECUTION
- Aesthetics & Form: Is the case visually compelling, well-proportioned, and thoughtfully detailed? Does its form effectively communicate its function and intent?
- Functionality & Performance: How well does the case perform its intended function?
- Material & Manufacturing Innovation: Does the design utilize materials in novel ways or incorporate innovative manufacturing processes?
- Craftsmanship & Attention to Detail: Does the final execution of the innovation demonstrate high quality, precision, and a strong commitment to detail?
4. PRESENTATION & COMMUNICATION
- Clarity of Vision: How clearly is the innovation, its purpose, and its innovative aspects articulated?
- Compelling Storytelling: Is the design's journey, its challenges, and its impact effectively communicated through supporting materials (e.g., descriptions, visuals, prototypes)?
