EU Global Gateway Supports Vocational Excellence and Skills Development in Uzbekistan

2 February 2026. Today, within the DARYA project - Dialogue and Action for Resourceful Youth in Central Asia, funded by the European Union, the European Training Foundation (ETF) together with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations of Uzbekistan and the Agency for Vocational Education launched a 3-day intensive training and peer-learning programme for Regional Centres of Vocational Excellence across Uzbekistan.

In his opening remarks, Mr Christos Marazopoulos, Head of Cooperation of the EU Delegation to Uzbekistan, highlighted that

“Vocational Excellence is a key driver of strong and future-oriented VET systems in the European Union. This is exactly what we are working towards in Uzbekistan as part of the ongoing VET reforms.”

The training brings together 14 Regional Centres of Vocational Excellence from across the country, engaging centre staff, employers closely cooperating with the centres, and representatives of regional education authorities.

This initiative reflects the EU’s Global Gateway approach, i.e. investing in people, skills, and quality education to support inclusive growth, stronger regional economies, and sustainable development in Uzbekistan
