EU Ambassador to Uzbekistan pays a Visit to Fergana and Andijan

7 June, 2024, Uzbekistan. On 10-11 June, 2024, Charlotte Adriaen, the Ambassador of the European Union to Uzbekistan will undertake a two-day visit to the Fergana and Andijan regions. The visit aims to boost economic ties between the EU and the regions of Uzbekistan, foster human rights initiatives, support vulnerable groups, and enhance environmental sustainability efforts within Fergana Valley.

On 10 June, the Ambassador will commence her visit by attending the kick-off meeting of the EU-funded project "Empowering Civil Society to Promote and Protect Human Rights, Vulnerable Groups, and the Environment in Selected Regions of Uzbekistan". This initiative, led by the International Partnership for Human Rights and Mehrjon Women and Children Center in Fergana, aims to enhance the capabilities of civil society organisations in the region, fostering greater social and environmental responsibility.

On 11 June, the Ambassador will travel to Andijan to meet with local entrepreneurs. The Ambassador will also tour key EU-funded projects implemented by “SABR” Republican Center for Socio-Economic Development and  Hamroh Centre.
