Our Intern: Traineeship programmes improve skills of young professionals and help to build good network

Meet Kamila Isataeva. She completed a 6-month traineeship at the EU Delegation to the Kyrgyz Republic and shared her experience of working in an international structure. We hope that her story will be useful for those who would like to cooperate with us or other EU missions in the Kyrgyz Republic.

-Kamila, what has been your most memorable experience during your traineeship?

-The most memorable experience for me was taking part in different projects, which were exciting and diverse. One project that I particularly appreciated was Green Nomads. This project involved young environmentalists visiting many universities across the country and sharing their knowledge about climate change, adaptation processes and other environmental issues.  I believe that such initiatives are not only exciting and interesting, but also important in shaping minds of young people who can undoubtedly benefit our country. They help to develop critical thinking, raise awareness on various topics and form an active civil society.

-Which experience would you distinguish that was gained at the EU Delegation?

Of course, working in an international organisation can give priceless experience and opportunities for personal and professional development. And what I would highlight is event management. I organised two guest lectures for students from Bishkek about the possibility of studying in Europe through the Erasmus+ programme. I was given full responsibility for organising these events, from coordinating with universities and speakers to providing the necessary catering and logistical support. This helped me to improve my communication and multitasking skills, as I had to supervise many aspects of the event at the same time.

-In your opinion, how useful are traineeship programmes to young professionals?

- I would highlight two aspects. Firstly, they improve existing skills and help to acquire new ones. Then, building a professional network as young professionals work with experts and specialists from different fields during their traineeship. They can also learn about job opportunities in different companies. Finally, I would like to thank the EU Delegation for the possibility to have a 6-month traineeship. I'm sure the experience I gained helped me grow.  I would also like to thank my co-workers too. Thank you for making this traineeship an unforgettable and enriching experience.

-Thank you very much, Kamila, for your enthusiasm and contribution to the work of our Delegation. Good luck!
