A group of journalists from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan joined the EU Green Week conference in Brussels, Belgium in the beginning of June. It was a part of a press trip, organized by the EU Delegations in the respective countries together with the East Stratcom Task Force in the European External Action Service.

The main goal of the trip was to inform journalists and their audiences about the EU’s green policies and practices. Journalists also participated in a tour to Belgian recycling factories TIBI and REVATECH, where journalists had a chance to see and hear about the recycling processes straight from the source.

On the margins of the visit, the media representatives had a series of meetings with EU officials, working on EU – Central Asian relations in the European External Action Service, the European Commission and the European Training Foundation. They had open exchanges regarding the cooperation between the EU and Central Asia as well as the EU projects in the region, such as the regional DARYA project. In the meetings, the journalists also discussed the issue of Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference, including disinformation.

I am glad that I now know the people behind the press releases.
