On 13 and 14 May, health ministers of the Group of Seven, including the European Union (EU), met in Nagasaki with a view to "work together for a healthier future" and adopted the Communique as the direction and actions of the G7. The EU was represented by European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Stella Kyriakides.
