Ambassador Thomas Hans OSSOWSKI
Ambassador Thomas Hans Ossowski was born in Karlsruhe/Germany on 1 July 1967. He is married to Anjellica. Together, they have a daughter and a son.
Before assuming his position as Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Türkiye in Ankara, Ambassador Ossowski served as Germany’s Representative to the EU Political and Security Committee in Brussels. Previous postings included the positions of Ambassador to the Philippines, Palau, Micronesia and Marshall Islands; Civilian Head of the Provincial Reconstruction Team in Kunduz/Afghanistan; Political Advisor to the NATO Commander in Kabul; Deputy Head of Mission in Rwanda; as well as Political Officer at the German Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Within the German Foreign Office, Ambassador Ossowski occupied the functions of Special Representative of the German Government for the negotiations of the EU Multiannual Financial Framework, Deputy Director General for European Affairs, Director for Enlargement, Migration and Sanctions Policies, as well as Director for Bilateral Relations with EU Member States. He served as Deputy Chief of Staff of the German Foreign Minister, as coordinator for EU policies and as member of the German Task Force for the EU Convention.
Before joining the German Foreign Service and the Federal Diplomatic Academy, Thomas Ossowski studied political science and international and EU law at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) and at the Universita Cesare Alfieri di Firenze.
Thomas Ossowski has a private pilot licence, he is an experienced equestrian, and he enjoys sports of all kinds.
