Federica Mogherini met with Vice-President Ali Salehi of Iran in Brussels today. The meeting served to make a state of play of the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Both sides reiterated their commitment to the full implementation of the agreement. They also stressed the need to keep the momentum and ensure that the JCPOA works for all the parties.

Mogherini and Salehi discussed the perspectives created by the JCPOA and the importance of having the necessary conditions in place for opening up the Iranian business environment to European investors.

They welcomed progresses achieved in bilateral cooperation in several fields as laid out in the joint statement adopted on the occasion of the HRVP visit in Teheran in April. 

The HRVP and the Iranian Vice-president had an exchange also on the crises of the region. They underlined the importance of a stable and secure region, and the need to take steps towards a more constructive regional environment.
