Head of Mission visited city of Kirkuk

EUAM Iraq Head of Mission Dr. Markus Ritter conducted a first field visit to Kirkuk.

During his trip he met with several high-ranking officials such as the Governor of Kirkuk Rakan Saeed Ali, the Chief of Police, Major General Ali Kamal Abdulrazaq, the Head of Federal Intelligence and Investigative Agency (FIIA), Major General Orhan Khaleel Juma’a and the Kirkuk Military Chief, Major General Hamid al-Zuhairi.

The Mission’s potential field office in Erbil would enhance and intensify the cooperation with Kirkuk governorate. The Police Academy in Kirkuk expressed their interest to link up and cooperate with the EUAM Iraq senior strategic advisors.

Kirkuk, a biblical city with vast oil reserves is a home to Kurds, Arabs, Turkmen and Christians. The city is the one of the disputed areas claimed by both the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the federal government of Iraq.
