Statement by the Spokesperson on the severe floods in India

The floods in the Southern Indian State of Kerala have caused severe loss of lives and destruction, affecting the lives of millions of people. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims and with all those affected by these deadly floods.

The European Union stands in full solidarity with India in this hour of need. We are ready to deploy assistance to help the country in the aftermath of this disaster that claimed so many lives, displaced tens of thousands of people, and caused severe damage to the infrastructure and crops.
