Eastern Partnership: meeting of senior officials takes place in Brussels
The meeting of Senior Officials of the Eastern Partnership took place on 20 March in Brussels and provided the opportunity to exchange views on the Eastern Partnership (EaP), take stock of its achievements and identify concrete recommendations and priorities for mid-term cooperation agenda. The EU, Member States and partners discussed the will to step up efforts in supporting the enlargement paths of Ukraine and Moldova, as well as tackling challenges related to the ongoing consequences of the Russian war against Ukraine for the entire region.
Discussions also focused on strengthening cooperation in key areas, including the rule of law, human rights, security, connectivity, transport, energy, and the green and digital transition, and engagement with youth and civil society.
The event gathered representatives from five EaP countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Republic of Moldova and Ukraine), EU Member States, EU institutions and the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum. Launched in 2009, the EaP is a joint initiative which aims to strengthen and deepen the political and economic relations between the European Union, its Member States and six Eastern European Partner countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
