From 25 until 27 July, High Representative/Vice-President Josep Borrell will be in Lao PDR to participate in the annual Ministerial Meeting between the EU and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), as well as the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meeting.

Before travelling to Lao PDR, High Representative/Vice-President Borrell will be in Hanoi on Thursday to attend the state funeral of Vietnam's Communist Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

On Friday, High Representative/Vice-President Borrell will be in Vientiane to co-chair the annual EU-ASEAN Post Ministerial Meeting, alongside the Philippines’ Foreign Secretary Enrique Manalo. At this meeting, the EU and ASEAN will review the progress made under the EU-ASEAN Plan of Action for 2023-2027. Ministers will also discuss how to further strengthen EU-ASEAN cooperation on trade, climate change, and security.

On Saturday, the High Representative/Vice-President will represent the EU at the 31^st ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial, chaired by Lao PDR. ASEAN Member States will participate alongside the other 17 ARF members to exchange views on a number of regional and global security issues.

During his visit to Lao PDR, High Representative Borrell will hold bilateral meetings with international and regional interlocutors.
