Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Indonesia - ASEAN?

We offer:

A traineeship of 3 up to 6 months within the EU Delegation to ASEAN, starting in March or April 2024.

The EU Delegation to ASEAN is one of over 140 diplomatic missions that represent the European Union (EU) around the world. It was established in Jakarta the seat of ASEAN on 8 August 2015, reflecting the EU’s growing engagement with ASEAN.  The EU Delegation is a natural point of contact between the EU and ASEAN officials, as well as others in the region wishing to know more about EU policies for the ASEAN region and on EU-ASEAN relations and cooperation. The overall purpose of the EU Delegation to ASEAN is to contribute to enhancing the strategic partnership that exists between the EU and ASEAN. 

Main tasks:

  • Prepare ASEAN Weekly News
  • Contribute to monthly social media plan to enhance the EU’s visibility and communication
  • Political reporting from meetings, contribution to speeches and briefings
  • Contribute to preparation of events, policy dialogues
  • Political analysis, report on events, developments in ASEAN, ASEAN Member States
  • Assist in the EU Representation in the EU organized public diplomacy and cultural events – Europe day, Climate Week, Get up and Move etc.
  • Trainee might be requested to carry out and deliver research project during or by the end of the traineeship.
We look for:

Qualifications or special requirements:

  • Taking into account the local health and security conditions, applicants currently residing in [Indonesia or [in the nearby Jakarta City] will only be considered.
  • Motivated candidates, interested to work in the international relations
  • Experience and study and knowledge of Europe and the European Union or ASEAN an asset
  • Written and oral fluency in English. Knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia is strong asset

Important information to read before applying

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.

The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin.

Citizens from EU Member states:

  • must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
  • must hold a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable,  based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
