Statement by the Spokesperson on the terrorist attack in Burkina Faso on 2 March
Text
This morning Burkina Faso was the target of further terrorist attacks in its capital, Ouagadougou. The attacks targeted the army headquarters and the French embassy, and caused many casualties.
The European Union expresses its sincere condolences to the families of the victims, and its full solidarity with the government and with all Burkinabe people.
We remain fully determined to support Burkina Faso and the countries in the region in their fight against terrorism, both at national level and in the framework of the Sahel G5 Joint Force, as underlined on 23 February at the International Conference on the Sahel in Brussels.
In the face of this common threat, we remain united to provide a common response.
