EU Ambasador tours EU-funded sugarcane projects

On 16 - 17 November 2017, EU Ambassador to Swaziland, Esmeralda Hernandez Aragones, visited the sugarbelt in the east and north of Swaziland to familiarize hereself with the EU-funded projects in the sugar sector.

The two-day visit was organized by the Swaziland Sugar Association (SSA). During the tour, the Ambassador visited, amongst other EU-funded projects, the Siphofaneni state-of-the-art high-level bridge which was constructed with the support of the EU, the Lomdashi Farmers Association, one of the most successful smallholder sugarcane farmer companies supported by the EU as well as the Mhlume sugar mill.

The Ambassador also visited the sugarcane museum at Tambankulu, north of Swaziland, which was established with the support of the EU. She was accompanied on the tour by the Chief Executive Officer of the Swaziland Sugar Association, Mr Phil Mnisi.
