Somali Defense Forces Commander, General Abdiweli Jama Hussein, for the first time after his appointment, attended a meeting at European Union Training Mission Somalia (EUTM-S) Headquarters on “Strand 2A” Military Coordination Group, together with representatives from EUTM-S, United States of America, United Kingdom and United Nations.

The meeting allowed General Hussein to closely observe the activities and objectives of Strand 2A which is part of the wider Somali comprehensive approach to security and development of strategical and political dialogue between Somali Institutions and international partners. In particular, under Minister of Defense leadership, “Strand 2A” coordinates unity of effort, action and standardization by international community partners in order to increase the capabilities of the Ministry of Defense and Somali National Army.

General Hussein, during his speech, reserved words of appreciation for the activities end efforts accomplished so far. “This is a difficult time for us and we must take advantage of this initiative to achieve a united, peaceful and stable Somalia”, he concluded.
