The violent attack on a tourist resort in the town of Grand-Bassam, Côte d'Ivoire, on Sunday left a number of dead and wounded, including Ivorians and foreign nationals.

Once again, terrorists have targeted civilians of all nationalities. We shall remain firmly united in the fight against their indiscriminate violence.

Those responsible for these atrocities must be held accountable for their actions and brought to justice.

The European Union extends its sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims of the attack and expresses its full solidarity with the authorities and people of Côte d’Ivoire.

It reiterates its firm commitment to work with Côte d’Ivoire and the countries in the sub-region to fight terrorism in all its forms.
