"The High Representative and Vice President Federica Mogherini expressed her deepest condolences to H.R.H. Prince Saud bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud following the passing of H. M. King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

She also sent a congratulatory message to H.R.H. Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for his appointment as Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and expressed confidence that the deep and longstanding friendship between the European Union and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will continue to develop for the mutual benefit of our people and of all in the region".
