EU Film Days in Japan

The Delegation of the European Union to Japan together with EU member states' embassies and cultural institutes in Japan, every year organise a film festival which aims to bring Europe – in particular its diverse cultures, lifestyles, languages, and at times also its history or social conditions – closer to the Japanese people through cinema. The event also showcases the excellent quality of European film-making.
The selected films, many of which are shown for the first time in Japan, are chosen in order to exhibit the wide range of film-making talent in the European Union as well to showcase the EU's cultural diversity and vibrancy.
Films from 24 EU member states were screened in 2016 both in Tokyo and Kyoto. During the festival, special appearances by visiting guests (actors, filmmakers) added special flavor and helped enhance the audience's understanding and enjoyment.
