EU Appoints New Head of Delegation in Jamaica
Malgorzata Wasilewska has been appointed as Head of the European Union Delegation to Jamaica, Belize, Bahamas, Turks and Caicos Islands and the Cayman Islands.
Ms. Wasilewska who assumed duties this week has extensive experience working on issues relating to democracy, organizational governance, strategic planning, human rights, conflict prevention, peace building and security with several international development organizations including the EU, Amnesty International and Saferworld.
She previously served as Head of Division for Conflict Prevention, Peace Building and Mediation; and also Elections and Democracy Support in the Foreign Relations arm of the EU (European External Action Services).
"I am delighted to be given the opportunity to continue to lead the EU's excellent partnership with the Government and people of Jamaica," said Ms Wasilewska. "I have already been made to feel so welcome in this wonderful and dynamic island and I look forward to working together with our partners to further advance trade relations between the EU and CARIFORUM, the goal of poverty reduction and ensuring a just and equitable world for all."
The new Head of Delegation will be based in Jamaica. She will also be accredited to the Bahamas, Belize, Cayman Islands, Turks and Caicos Islands and the Cayman Islands.
