The European Union congratulates Turkmenistan on the 25th anniversary of its declaration of national independence. The European Union is committed to supporting the transformation process in Turkmenistan, for the benefit of the country's citizens. The EU's Central Asia Strategy, launched in 2007, is a core element of our relationship with Turkmenistan and outlines our strong ties with the country. The annual EU-Central Asia Foreign Minister's Meeting also provides an opportunity to intensify our relationship based on the long-term development, stability and security of the country. The most recent Foreign Ministers' Meeting, with the participation of Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, took place on 4 October in Brussels and was chaired by the High Representative/Vice-President Mogherini.
