The Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro is responsible for analysing and reporting on political, economic, and integration developments in the country, promoting reform process, implementing and managing an EU financial assistance portfolio and raising public awareness about the EU's presence and involvement in Montenegro.

What we do

The mission of the Delegation is to represent the European Union (EU) in Montenegro.

The Delegation promotes the policies, values and interests of the EU and its Member States in Montenegro. It monitors and supports Montenegro’s accession process, including through the implementation of EU assistance programmes.

The EU Delegation works to enhance the EU’s visibility, awareness and overall general understanding of the EU in Montenegro.  The Delegation also endeavours to coordinate the EU Member States positions as necessary. It reports back to Headquarters on all matters of interest for the EU.

The EU Delegation follows up and fosters the implementation of Montenegro’s Process of Stabilization and Association. It oversees and manages the long-term programming and implementation of aid within the framework of the current reform of the external aid management (IPA funds).

The Delegation is currently managing more than 200 EU assistance projects. These projects underpin Montenegro's reform efforts on its path to the EU.

The Structure

The Delegation is divided into four sections: European Integration, Political, Press and Information Section (EIPPI), Cooperation (CPR), Finance, Contracts, & Audit (FCT) and Administration (SAD). Around two-thirds of the staff are from Montenegro and the remainder comes from the EU Member States.
