Civilian Operations Commander arrival to Somalia

Stefano Tomat begins  a comprehensive duty trip to Somalia in his role as Civilian Operations Commander for EUCAP Somalia. His visit includes key meetings with  Somali and international counterparts, visits to EUCAP Somalias Field Offices in Bossaso and Hargeisa and facilities, and observation of the Missions engagement throughout the country.

07 July, Mogadishu - In his meetings with Somali counterparts, the Civilian Operations Commander aims to support the Mission in fostering stronger partnerships and ensuring that EUCAPs efforts are fully responsive to Somali needs. The duty trip also serves to take stock of the Missions achievements  on the ground and to discuss and the challenges experienced by EUCAP Somalia.

Additionally, the visit includes interactions with the EUCAP Senior Management Team and discussions with Mission Members to gain first hand experience of the operational environment.

This visit underscores the EUs commitment to supporting Somalias security and governance through active engagement and collaboration, in line with the EU-Somalia Joint Operational Roadmap.

EUCAP Somalia is a civilian crisis management mission that has been in operation since 2016. The Mission supports the development of the Somali maritime security sector, rule of law and wider police capacity.
