On 5 June 2025, General Seán Clancy conducted a video call with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi.  

The discussion centered on the current situation with regards to Russia’s illegal war of aggression and the EU Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine. 

During the call, General Clancy reiterated the ongoing, continued and enduring commitment to support Ukraine. General  Oleksandr Syrskyi expressed his gratitude for all of the supports received from its’ EU partners and wished General Clancy every success in his new role as Chair of the European Union Military Committee.
