Media Advisory: International Donors Conference in solidarity with Venezuelan refugees and migrants

The European Union and the Government of Spain, with the support of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), have convened an International Donors Conference in solidarity with Venezuelan refugees and migrants in the countries of the region, in the context of COVID-19.

The conference will take place virtually on 26 May at 16:00 CET. Over 60 countries as well as agencies of the United Nations, international financial institutions and representatives of national and international civil society, will address together this unprecedented crisis, mobilise resources for the displaced population and the main host communities, and strengthen the coordination among the key actors.

A press conference by High Representative/Vice-President Josep Borrell, the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arancha González Laya, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi and IOM’s Director-General António Vitorino will take place remotely after the conference at +/- 18.30 CET on 26 May. Journalists accredited to the European Union institutions will receive a link to participate at the press conference. Journalists who are not accredited but who wish to be able to ask questions at the press conference are invited to send an email to Jennifer.SANCHEZ-DA-SILVA@ec.europa.eu by Tuesday 26 May 12.00 CET.
