Media advisory: High Representative/Vice-President Josep Borrell travels to Vietnam

From 30 until 31 July, High Representative/Vice-President Josep Borrell will be in Hanoi to advance the EU’s partnership with Vietnam.

Over the past decades, Vietnam has become one of the most important partners of the EU in Southeast Asia. Amongst the ASEAN countries, Vietnam has the highest number of bilateral agreements with the EU, including a Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA), a Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), a Framework Partnership Agreement in the security area, a Voluntary FLEGT Partnership Agreement in the area of trade in timber and a Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).

On Tuesday, the High Representative/Vice-President Borrell (HR/VP) will meet with State President of Vietnam, To Lam. In same morning, the High Representative will also meet the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, Bui Thanh Son. They will deliver press remarks after their meeting, which will be available on EbS (in the morning). The HR/VP Borrell will meet the Chairman of the Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations of the National Assembly, Le Hoai Trung, followed by a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam, Tran Luu Quang.
