The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, will travel to Jordan on 19-20 December.

On 19 December, HR/VP Borrell will meet with Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan. They will discuss regional issues. The High Representative will reaffirm the EU’s commitment and support for the region, also in view of the Russian war against Ukraine, its global consequences and its impact on European and global security. In addition, they will discuss bilateral relations.

HR/VP Borrell will then represent the European Union and participate at the Second Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership taking place on 20 December at the Dead Sea. The Conference will be held to reaffirm the participants’ support for Iraq, its sovereignty, security, and stability, as well as its political process, its economic and development and its rebuilding efforts in fulfilment of the aspirations of its people.

The Conference will also examine the means to support Iraq and its efforts to bolster its security and sovereignty, guarantee its stability, and achieve development and prosperity for its people.
