Media advisory: 2nd Schuman Security and Defence Forum

17.05.2024 EEAS Press Team

The second edition of Schuman Security and Defence Forum (Schuman Forum) will take place in Brussels, on 28-29 May.

After its first edition in March 2023, at the initiative of High Representative/Vice President Josep Borrell, the Schuman Forum will bring together the EU’s closest partners in the field of peace, security and defence to exchange on common security challenges and common responses.

The Schuman Forum will gather political actors, senior decision-makers, military representatives from EU Member States and more than 60 partner countries, as well as representatives from international and regional organisations, leading think-tanks and academia.

The Schuman Forum will start with a closed-door ministerial dinner on 28 May. A side event with experts on peace, security and defence policy from think-tanks and academia from around the world will take place in the afternoon.

On 29 May, the Schuman Forum will continue at the European Parliament premises with a series of keynote speeches, high-level panels, roundtables, and plenary sessions. Participants will discuss how to best strengthen and further develop cooperation in the field of peace, security and defence, with a view to addressing common security threats.

Please see here an indicative programme of the Forum.
