Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Colombia?

We offer:

Traineeships of up to 6 months within the following sections of the EU Delegation to Colombia, starting in end April 2024:

  • Traineeship in the Political, Press and Information Section (PPI):

Main tasks:

  • Monitor local media and political developments, in particular those affecting EU-Colombia relations
  • Follow and contribute to reporting on political developments, economy, human rights, peace, security, environment and regional developments
  • Contribute to the social media strategy
  • Contribute to the preparation of articles and interviews
  • Participate and contribute to the preparation and implementation of public diplomacy activities of the EU Delegation
  • Assist in the conception and implementation of information and communication products
  • Participate in internal and external meetings/events and report timely about them
  • Data gathering and analysis of social and economic indicators in the country
  • Ad hoc tasks related to upcoming demands and events
  • Traineeship in the Cooperation section (COOP):

The Cooperation Section of the Delegation of the European Union to Colombia is in charge of following the development cooperation. It also ensures the long-term programming of aid and the management of programmes and devolved projects within the framework of the current external aid management

Main tasks:

  • Organize meetings with donors, civil society, government institutions and other implementing partners
  • Prepare minutes of meetings and follow up on commitments in strategic meetings
  • Analyse and systematize cooperation experiences
  • Attend key seminars and events and draft information notes on policy issues
  • Support the organization of evaluation and monitoring missions
  • Assist the EU staff in the monitoring and implementation of cooperation projects and support its proper registration in SICEC
  • Support mainstreaming of key development aspects such as gender, environment, peace, transparency, Human Rights Based Approach, private sector development, etc.
We look for:

Qualifications or special requirements:

  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required
  • At least a Bachelor diploma (or equivalent) in international relations, politics, or equivalent
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Capacity to work in a team with attention to details
  • Good command of usual IT Tools

Please mention in the subject of your e-mail: Funded Traineeship - PPI Section or COOP Section (you may only apply to 1 traineeship per delegation, however based on your profile, the delegation could offer you a traineeship in another section).

Important information to read before applying

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.

The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin.

Citizens from EU Member states:

  • must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
  • must hold a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable,  based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
