Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in the Republic of Moldova?

We offer:

A traineeship of 6 months within the Political, Press and Information Section of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova. The Delegation has two openings available and is interested for one trainee starting on April 2024 and one trainee starting on July 2024.

The Political, Press and Information Section closely monitors the country’s progress with the EU integration process in the context of the European Council’s decision in December 2023 to open accession negotiations. We follow Moldova’s compliance with the recommendations set forward in this process, and the country’s readiness to adopt and implement EU legislation. The Delegation promotes democratic values, and supports the implementation of key reforms in the field of rule of law and resilient society.

The Political, Press and Information Section monitors, analyses and reports political, economic and social developments in the Republic of Moldova. The Section engages with the country’s political actors, authorities, stakeholders and civil society, and promotes EU values, communication and visibility.

Main tasks:

  • Support the Political Section in monitoring, analysing and reporting political, legal and economic developments in the Republic of Moldova;
  • Support the Political Section in monitoring and reporting the country’s progress in implementing the recommendations outlined in the 2023 Enlargement Package;
  • Gather data and carry out analytical tasks through independent research on specific issues in the fields of law, domestic political and economic affairs;
  • Attend and report on events, seminars, conferences, support the Delegation’s activities on visibility;
  • Contribute to organising events, meetings and visits;
  • Carry out any other assignments as instructed by the Head of Section
We look for:

Qualifications or special requirements:

  • At least Bachelor’s degree in political science, international relations, economics or law;
  • Master’s degree or other post-Bachelor studies in the relevant fields are an asset;
  • Excellent knowledge of English and fluency in Romanian are required;
  • Demonstrated interest in European Union policies, international cooperation or regional politics;
  • Availability to commit full time for the entire duration of the traineeship;
  • Good understanding of the Moldovan legal system and experience in research are assets;
  • Fluency in Russian is an asset.

Important information to read before applying

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.

The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin.

Citizens from EU Member states:

  • must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
  • must hold a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable, based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
