We offer:

A traineeship of up to 6 months within the PPI Section of the EU Delegation to Liberia, starting in April 2024.

The Political, Press and Information (PPI) section follows political and economic developments in the country and works with civil society and the media with the aim to further strengthen EU-Liberia relations. The section coordinates the public communications and public diplomacy initiatives of the European Union in Liberia with its Member States in line with the Team Europe spirit.

Main tasks:

  • Support the Delegation in the development of communication tools (press articles, factsheets etc.) linked to the fight against climate change. This will cover notably the area of forestry/biodiversity and food systems based in the EU ongoing and past regional and national programmes.
  • Promote Team Europe initiatives finding synergies with Member States programmes and joint communication activities.
  • Assist in organising EU communication, visibility and cultural events i.e. World Days.
  • Assist in writing articles to be published in the national press.
  • Actively monitor local media and compile weekly press reviews.
  • Assist in managing the Delegation’s digital and social media presence, including drafting posts, web articles and designing visual materials, and managing relevant translations thereof.
  • Assist in developing, drafting and designing public diplomacy initiatives.
  • Attend meetings, conferences and seminars upon request and contribute in drafting reports.
  • Support coordination with internal and external partners, including embassies of EU Member States and service providers.

Qualifications or special requirements:

  • Taking into account the local health and security conditions, applicants currently residing in Liberia will only be considered.
  • Basic knowledge of the EU and its work in Liberia;
  • Interest in promoting awareness about the EU in Liberia through public diplomacy;
  • Excellent analytical, communication and drafting skills in English. Skills in domestic languages are considered an asset;
  • Willingness and ability to work in a multicultural environment;
  • A proactive and flexible attitude and a high level of motivation for professional motivation

Important information to read before applying

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.

The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin.

Citizens from EU Member states:

  • must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;

must hold a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable,  based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
