European Diplomatic Programme

The conference entitled "The EU as a global actor: Strategic autonomy, resilience and multilateralism", jointly organised by the EEAS and the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, brought together tens of junior diplomats from the EU Member States, experts in foreign policy, science and climate and the Training Directors from the MS, with strict health protective measures at all times.
The Module I was opened by the Head of Slovenian Diplomatic Academy, Andraž Zidar, the Head of Career, Learning and Development Division at the EEAS, Ulrike Hauer, the State Secretary of Slovenia, Gašper Dovžan, and the Minister for Digital Transformation, Mark Boris Andrijanič.
The presentations and discussions focused on digital sovereignty, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, green economy and climate change. Among the speakers were climatologist Dr Lučka Kajfež Bogataj, Ambassador at Large for Climate Diplomacy at the EEAS Marc Vanheukelen, CER Executive Director Ana Struna Bregar and Ambassador Samuel Žbogar.
The European Diplomatic Programme of four modules aims to promote networking and strengthening the European spirit among the younger generation of diplomats. It also provides an opportunity for experience sharing and exchange of views on new methods and strategies in the field of diplomatic training and education between the EEAS and Heads of European diplomatic academies.
