EUMAM UA remains a pivotal element of the EU’s military support for Ukraine.

The Poland-based CAT-C Command is one of the two commands responsible for this crucial process of preparation for front-line service. This is more than just training. It's real help and an expression of European solidarity against brutal aggression. The presence of French instructors here is of significant importance - their experience and commitment are invaluable support for fighting Ukraine.
EUMAM UA
Since the Russian attack on Ukraine began in February 2022, the EU has been supporting Ukraine in its fight against the aggressor. A crucial element of the support package is to provide training for Ukrainian service personnel regarding weapon systems, military command and control, and medical support, among other things.
The training provided by the EU is carried out as a part of the EU training mission EUMAM UA (European Union Military Assistance Mission Ukraine). The training mission was agreed by the EU member states on 17 October 2022 at the Foreign Affairs Council. It is the first training mission on European soil.
According to the active mandate of the mission, 24 participating European countries plan to provide basic and advanced training as long as needed in accordance with the needs reported by the Ukrainian side. Like-minded third-party countries may also participate in the mission. The aim is to strengthen the military capabilities of the Ukrainian armed forces in such a way that they can effectively and sustainably defend their country and protect the civilian population. The equipment required for training is provided by the EU member states with common funding provided by the European Peace Facility.
Dutch Lieutenant General Michiel van der Laan, as Director of the EU Military Planning and Conduct Capability (MPCC) in Brussels, is in charge of EUMAM European Union Military Assistance Mission at the military-strategic level. The training measures are coordinated by two multinational commands, the Combined Arms Training Command (CAT-C) in Poland and the Special Training Command (ST-C) in Germany.
The CAT-C is commanded by Major General Piotr Fajkowski.
