EU-CELAC Roadmap & Summits
A dynamic partnership
The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) is a regional political coordination mechanism, which gathers all 33 Latin American and Caribbean countries. CELAC is the EU's official counterpart for the region-to-region political dialogues (including Summits) of this strategic partnership. Bi-regional initiatives are taking place in many sectors, including through the implementation of a EU-CELAC Roadmap. Currently Colombia holds the Pro-Tempore Presidency (PPT) of CELAC this year and will host the IV CELAC-EU Summit in Santa Marta on 09 and 10 November 2025.
Previous bi-regional Summits took place in Santiago de Chile in 2013, in Brussels in 2015 and in 2023. The last EU-CELAC Summit on 17 July 2023 gave an important impulse to the relations between the EU and Latin America and the Caribbean by resuming bi-regional dialogue at the highest level. Joint work has expanded since then and partners have increased their cooperation on a wide range of areas of common interest illustrated below.
In the upcoming Summit in Colombia, leaders of the EU and of both regions’ countries will discuss a wide range of issues to deepen the bi-regional partnership.
