High Representative/Vice-President Josep Borrell announced the appointments of 11 new Heads of Delegations of the European Union, who will take up their duties as of 1 September:

Thomas ECKERT has been appointed as Head of Delegation of the European Union to Algeria. He is currently Senior Expert in the Cabinet of European Commissioner Elisa Ferreira. He also served as Head of the Political Affairs Directorate in the German Permanent Representation to the European Union.

Peter MICHALKO has been appointed as Head of Delegation of the European Union to Azerbaijan. He is currently Head of Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova. He formerly served as Slovak Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic.

Isabel BRILHANTE PEDROSA has been appointed as Head of Delegation of the European Union to Cuba. She has been Head of Delegation of the European Union to Venezuela. She formerly served as Portuguese Ambassador to Namibia.

François ROUDIE has been appointed as Head of Delegation of the European Union to El Salvador and to the Central American Integration System (SICA). He is currently Deputy Head of the EEAS Mexico, Central America and Caribbean Division. He also served as Head of the Political and Press section in the European Union Delegation to Argentina.

Roland KOBIA has been appointed as Head of Delegation of the European Union to Ethiopia. He is currently Special Envoy of the European Union to Afghanistan. He formerly served as the Head of Delegation of the European Union to Myanmar.

Ville VARJOLA has been appointed as Head of Delegation of the European Union to Iraq. He is currently Adviser to the Directorate General Connectivity and Geo-economics within the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also served as Deputy Head of Delegation of the European Union to Libya.

Rune SKINNEBACH has been appointed as Head of Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Malawi. He is currently Deputy Head of the EEAS Pan-African Affairs Division and also served as Deputy Head of the EEAS Human Resources Policy Division.

Bettina MUSCHEIDT has been appointed as Head of Delegation of the European Union to Nicaragua. She previously served as Head of Delegation of the European Union to Libya and prior to that Head of Delegation of the European Union to Yemen.

Gaspar FRONTINI has been appointed as Head of Delegation of the European Union to Peru. He is currently Adviser on inequalities in the Directorate General for International Partnerships within the European Commission. He also served as Head of Unit responsible for the relations with Latin America in the Directorate General for Trade within the European Commission.

Tiina INTELMANN has been appointed as Head of Delegation of the European Union to Somalia. She is currently Estonian Ambassador to the United Kingdom and formerly served as Head of Delegation of the European Union to Liberia.

David DALY has been appointed as Head of Delegation of the European Union to Thailand. He is currently Head of the EEAS South-East Asia Division. He formerly served as Head of Delegation of the European Union to Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
