A dynamic celebration of the EU-AU Partnership - #AUEU25 wraps up in Brussels

This week marked an exciting chapter in the EU-AU partnership, with two vibrant and impactful events at Headquarters, underscoring our shared journey: the visit of 15 African journalists, through the AU Media Fellowship program, and the debut of the #AUEU25 #ThroughOurLens photo exhibition. Both events showcase the power of strategic communication and storytelling about our unique AU-EU partnership and breathing life into the many of the outcomes of the AU-EU Summit in November last year in Luanda.

The journalists embarked on a series of constructive discussions, meetings and interactions with key EU institutions, including invaluable interactions with the EEAS, European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council. Their active participation underscores the EU's dedication to amplifying African media voices, fostering collaboration among a network of skilled communicators and to nurturing closer ties with EU institutions.

A standout moment was the cocktail reception launching the photo exhibition featuring the 25 finalists of the #AUEU25 #ThroughOurLens photo competition, bringing the journalists together with African and European PSC Ambassadors. The inauguration was hosted by, Patricia Llombart-Cussac, Managing Director for Africa at EEAS, Matthew Reece, EEAS StratCom Director, and Ali Yacoub Mahamoud, AU Ambassador to the EU, setting the stage for this inspiring cultural exchange.

The exhibition showcased visual narratives that celebrate 25 years of the AU-EU partnership. These compelling visuals emphasize our joint efforts in key areas such as peace and security, multilateralism, climate action, education, and sustainable development. It features stunning images from 25 young talented photographers, finalists from the recent photo competition, organised by the EU Delegation to the AU jointly with the AU to close the year-long celebration of the 25 years of the AU-EU partnership (#AUEU25). The cocktail reception followed an enriching Africa-EU meeting with African ambassadors, hosted by Patricia Llombart-Cussac and Ali Yacoub Mahamoud.

As we conclude this impactful week, these dialogues and engagements reinforce our shared goals for the future. In times of geopolitical volatility, our EU-Africa partnership is more crucial than ever – working together for Prosperity and Peace through effective Multilateralism.
