On 1 June 2025, the Delegation of the European Union to Turkmenistan held an engaging upcycling masterclass in Ashgabat as part of the EU's global #ForOurPlanet campaign, aimed at raising environmental awareness and promoting sustainable practices.

The event brought together local women volunteers, eco-activists, vulnerable women and art enthusiasts for a creative session that combined environmental education with hands-on experience. The workshop began with a short introduction to the goals of the “For Our Planet” initiative, emphasising the importance of responsible consumption, circular economy, and climate action.

Participants were introduced to the concept of upcycling – creatively reusing discarded materials to make new products – and guided through the process of turning old denim into decorative wall panels. The session highlighted how simple everyday actions can reduce waste and contribute to a more sustainable lifestyle.

The initiative also highlighted women's contribution to promoting sustainable lifestyles and their involvement in addressing environmental challenges. The EU Delegation will continue to support initiatives that promote women's participation in environmental and social change through creativity and cooperation.
