EU Energy Platform/Aggregate EU

21.06.2023

The European Commission has  put in place, with the aid of a service provider, a new natural gas aggregation and buyer/seller matching mechanism called Aggregate EU (please details under the link below).

‘AggregateEU’ has been established as a demand aggregation and joint purchasing mechanism. It is based on an emergency regulation to address high gas prices in the EU and ensure security of supply. It is open to EU Member States and Energy Community contracting parties (Ukraine, Moldova, Western Balkans, Georgia) in ensuring sufficient gas supplies in time for the 2023-2024 winter and beyond.

The mechanism is ready and has started registering both sellers and buyers, please also see link for Prism below.

Importantly, both EU and non-EU companies can participate as suppliers with the exceptions provided for in the relevant legal instrument (e.g.: Russian suppliers are ineligible).

Tendering rounds are meant to be repeated every two months until end of 2023 and shall allow companies (each time) to contract gas for the next 12 months.
