Rural Electrification Programme - Support to Turnkey III in Tanzania

The overall objective of the project is to improve livelihoods and foster social and economic development in rural areas through the provision of access to electricity.

 

The specific objective of the action is to improve access to reliable power in rural areas through the extension of the public power distribution grid. The EU contribution would provide electricity to approximately 3,559 villages, with an estimated 193,306 new grid connections benefitting more than 1 million people. In addition, it would specially provide electricity to at least 63 health facilities and 363 water supply schemes in rural areas, for improved preventative and curative health services for people with infectious diseases, including COVID-19.
