Recap

Lucien is a young, unknown poet living in 19th-century France. He has great expectations for his future and intends to forge his own destiny. Accompanied by his protector, he leaves the family printing business in his native province to try his luck in Paris. Left to his own devices in the French capital, the young man discovers a world dedicated to profit and pretense. Lost Illusions is a human comedy in which everything is bought and sold: literature, the press, politics, feelings, reputations, and even souls.
