EUROPEAN UNIOIN, 2024
The EU Delegation in Turkiye, in cooperation with the Turkish Union for Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkiye (TOBB), runs a nationwide local communication initiative known as the EU Information Centres Network (EUICs). The primary aim of this project is to effectively convey EU messages to diverse local audiences across the country.
These EU Information Centres, serve as liaison offices and are situated within partner institutions such as Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The Network has expanded to include 19 EU Info Centers, located in Ankara, Antalya, Bursa, Edirne, Denizli, Diyarbakır, Eskişehir, Gaziantep, Istanbul, Izmir, Kayseri, Kocaeli, Konya, Mersin, Samsun, Sivas, Şanlıurfa, Trabzon, and Van.
Functioning as support hubs, the Network assists in coordinating EU-related public outreach events, facilitating the dissemination of EU messages to a diverse audience. Events focus on EU-Türkiye common priority topics such as Trade & Economy, Green Transition, Digitalisation, Climate Change, Migration, Energy, Gender, Culture, Disinformation, Fundamental Rights, etc. The events are in the form of corporate events such as moderated panel discussions, seminars, conferences, workshops as well as public events such as exhibitions, concerts, fairs, film screenings, public readings, festivals and networking events.
By establishing a tangible presence in various regions, the Network fosters direct engagement between the EU Delegation and local stakeholders, particularly within the business community. Moreover, it serves as a channel for providing citizens with readily available information regarding the evolving dynamics of EU-Türkiye relations.
