Turkey declared 2018 the “Year Against Child Labour,” and a joint declaration was signed by six ministries (Labour and Social Security, National Education, Development, Youth and Sports, Interior, Family and Social Policies), seven social partners (TÜRK-İŞ, HAK-İŞ, DİSK, TİSK, TOBB, TESK, TZOB), and one international organization (ILO) following publication of the “National Programme on Combatting Child Labour” in the Official Gazette, in line with Turkey's 2023 targets.

The EU has supported many grant projects to help combat child labour under IPA I. One of these projects, “The Social Integration of Seasonal Agricultural Workers, Improvement of Their Employability, and Reinforcing Pupil Participation in School Life," was implemented in 2017 by the Young Life Foundation (Genç Hayat Vakfı). The project supported the parents of working children in İstanbul, Şanlıurfa, Düzce and Ankara to enter the labour market themselves and to combat child labour.  Overall, 356 seasonal workers benefited from the project; 232 children who were working as child workers or at risk of working attended summer school; and awareness-raising activities were conducted for more than 100 people working in the area.
