This year for International Women’s Day, the @European External Action Service – EEAS has decided to focus on women working in the field of Sciences, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) around the world.

So we thought it would be a good  opportunity  to share the inspiring quote from Dr Nadine Laguette, a scientist born in Mauritius who has been working for several years at the reputed CNRS - Centre national de la recherche scientifique in France. She is currently the Head of the Molecular Basis of Inflammation team at the CNRS, a Team  that takes interest in the study of the molecular mechanisms involved in the initiation, maintenance, and resolution of inflammation. Dr Laguette has received several awards for her research work. The high quality of her work entitled her to financial support from the @EuropeanResearchCouncil (ERC) established by the European Commission : an ERC Starting Grant in 2015, an ERC Proof of Concept in 2019 and an ERC Consolidator in 2023. Her story is a real inspiration for young women willing to start a career in STEM. Her contribution to science and research in the area of inflammation also gives hope for future innovations in the field of medicine.

Did you know?

Inflammation is a normal reaction of the immune system in response to infections or tissue damage. However, unresolved inflammation can cause pathologies including cancer, auto-inflammatory and auto-immune disorders.
