The EU Delegation to Lesotho is offering a paid traineeship for 6 months starting in May 2024 in the Political, Press and Information area. The traineeship is open to young graduates interested in international relations and the relationship between Lesotho and the European Union. The traineeship provides an opportunity to learn about the work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Lesotho.

Are you a young graduate interested in international relations and in the relationship of Lesotho with the European Union?

Are you curious to learn more about the work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Lesotho?

We offer:

A funded traineeship of 6 months in the Political, Press and Information area of the EU Delegation to Lesotho, starting in May 2024, subject to respect to the local legislation.

The Political, Press and Information area is responsible for political analysis and reporting, relations in this field with the Lesotho interlocutors, coordination with EU Member States and organisation of public events. It also covers press and information activities.

Main tasks:

  • Information gathering and analysis on political, social, and economic developments in Lesotho, and assisting in the preparation of reports on such developments and dynamics;
  • Translation of documents of interest for the Delegation from and to Sesotho;
  • Assist in the analysis of media reports, in the monitoring and preparation of contents for social media and in the organization of public events of the EU Delegation.

Qualifications or special requirements:

  • Minimum: A Bachelor Degree in political science, international relations, economics or law; minimum final mark of 70%
  •  Fluent in English and Sesotho language;
  • Maximum one year of professional experience;
  • No previous experience in EU Institutions longer than 6 weeks.

Important information

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship under Decision ADMIN(2017)28 of 22.12.2017 and Decision ADMIN(2023) 52 of 17.10.2023.

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for a test and interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidate is not able to present the required documents, his/her candidacy will be rejected.

The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin.

Citizens from EU Member states:

  • must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
  • must already reside in the host country at the time of the applicant and must hold a valid visa and residential permit for the entire duration of the traineeship.
