EU Delegation in Kuwait holds a joint exhibition with the Ukrainian Embassy “Brave to be strong: Voices of resilience”

On 12 February 2026, the EU Delegation in Kuwait organised in the EU Residence a joint exhibition with the Ukrainian Embassy ‘Brave to be strong; Voices of resilience’, which tells the human story of courage, resilience and unbreakable spirit of the people of Ukraine. Mr. Eduard Kryzhanivskyi, the official photographer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine participated in the exhibition with his photographs which document the reality of this war.

The EU Ambassador Anne Koistinen delivered a speech during the exhibition in which she said “This joint exhibition by the Ukrainian Embassy and EU Delegation in Kuwait tells the human story of courage, resilience and unbreakable spirit of the people of Ukraine. Our EU exhibition Voices of Resilience brings together poster artworks by Ukrainian artists created during Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The works reflect on the realities and phenomena of war-loss and displacement, civic resilience, daily life under threat, collective solidarity, and the enduring strength of Ukrainian society. Each artwork is accompanied by a short text in which the artist recalls the first days of the full-scale invasion.”

EU Ambassador added that “Energy is the new front line. The EU is responding with the biggest ever winter aid package, this covers emergency equipment, funding and energy deliveries. Overall, our energy fund has surpassed €1.6 billion. But this is not enough, as the images from Ukraine show us every day. Our overall assistance to Ukraine, including also financial support and support for Ukrainian refugees amounts to €193.3 billion. As for supporting Ukrainian culture, the European Union has stood strong in solidarity, offering vital assistance to Ukraine’s cultural and creative sectors. There were many EU initiatives and collaborations that helped in mitigating the conflict’s impact on Ukrainian culture and arts. ‘She concluded by saying that “the Ukrainian people are inspiration for us all and they can always count on our support”.

Ambassador of Ukraine Dr. Maksym Subkh said in his speech “Today we gather on the eve of a tragic milestone - 4 years since the beginning of full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. What followed became one of the largest humanitarian crises in modern history. A European nation was brutally attacked for choosing freedom, democracy, and independence. If history has taught us anything, it is that the Ukrainian nation is unbreakable. Behind these words, however, lies immense human suffering. That is why international solidarity is essential. Humanitarian assistance aimed at supporting the energy sector during these extremely frosty days directly saves lives and alleviates civilian suffering. In this context, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Andrii Sybiha, has called upon partners worldwide to support Ukrainians during this harsh winter and help provide warmth and electricity to those in need, launching the wide-ranging information campaign #WarmthForUkraine.”

Mr. Eduard Kryzhanivskyi, the official photographer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine presented his photographs which document the reality of this war. Each image displayed captures moments that words often fail to convey, these images transmit pain, resistance, and endurance. They also document destruction, displacement, loss … though they send clear and strong signals of resilience, hope and solidarity.

The event which was widely covered in local media was attended be Kuwaiti officials and foreign diplomats including EUMS.
