EU Delegation hosts a ghabqa for leading women in Kuwait to mark International Women's Day

The European Union (EU) Delegation in Kuwait hosted a ghabqa to celebrate women’s empowerment efforts in Kuwait. The event, which was organized on the occasion of International Women’s Day that took place on 8 March, brought together leading women across all sectors of the Kuwaiti society, including the Kuwaiti government, private sector companies and financial institutions, academia and civil society representatives and women’s empowerment activists, artists, journalists, lawyers and influencers.
In her speech during the event, EU Ambassador Anne Koistinen said: “The European Union is proud to support and celebrate women’s empowerment in Kuwait. We at the European Union firmly believe that inclusive societies are stronger, more prosperous, and more resilient.” She also added: “I am delighted by the fact that the EU and Kuwait share a genuine commitment to advance women’s empowerment. Since the establishment of the EU Delegation in 2019, we have enjoyed an excellent collaboration with the Kuwaiti government, the private sector, the academia and the civil society, which has resulted in many flagship projects and activities, which we are proud about.”
